Pro Ear is an ear training program designed to take you from beginner to professional at your own pace. The app focuses on six exercises to improve the skills of any musician, singer, producer, composer, or anyone who wants to improve their musical abilities. This is an excellent tool for developing Relative or Perfect Pitch! EXERCISES: INTERVAL RECOGNITION Learn to differentiate between intervals, the building blocks of musical phrases. This drill takes you through each interval from unison to octave. New intervals are included in each level, and users are tested randomly on ten different instruments (acoustic and synthetic) covering four octaves. Both melodic and harmonic intervals are covered. This exercise is timed. INTERVAL PLAYBACK Learn to play every interval on the piano. An interval is played and two notes are highlighted. You must identify which of the two highlighted notes was played first and then identify the second note based on the interval that was played. PITCH RECOGNITION Learn to differentiate between pitches played on the piano. Level one starts with C and G. A new note is added with each level until you can recognize every note on the piano by pitch without a reference to another note. MELODY PLAYBACK Learn to play melodies on the piano by ear. This drill is an extension of Interval Playback. Level one starts with random rhythms and notes from the first and third degree. New notes are added with each level until the user can repeat a melody using any five notes in a major or minor scale. CHORD RECOGNITION Learn to recognize chords by ear. Level one starts with major and minor chords and advances until you can recognize 30 different chords from triads to 13ths. Chord recognition is an excellent tool for harmony development. This exercise is timed. CHORD INVERSIONS Learn to differentiate between root, first, second, and third inversions of chords. This drill takes Chord Recognition to another level. It covers inversions of twelve different chords. This exercise is timed. For each drill, the correct answers are displayed and repeated after incorrect responses. Users advance to the next level upon completion of 20 consecutive correct answers.
